You bet! Even game-changing innovators like Google need reboots in this environment.
Experience has shown, that skills which provide companies their first level of success are not all that’s required to drive the next round of growth. Google’s team knows this and is actively looking to ward off “middleage-dom”–the unfortunate conservative slowness that seeps into organizations when they begin to mature.
Organic innovation that materially drives growth is not easy in large companies, the impetus needs to come from and be committed to by the top—but that is not enough. If...

With Facebook at 300 million members, CMO’s and CEO’s still struggle with the social media landscape and question its place in the evolution of marketing. We’ve been talking all year about how brands struggle with and should leverage social media…but to many, the options just keep changing/expanding with complex ways to reach more communities.

Talent is Overrated by Geoff Colvin

CEO’s can learn A LOT…and CMO’s can too! Whenever I visit and IN-N-OUT location (like today) I am amazed and reminded about how their remarkable simplicity and limited choices can drive raving customers (fans) to their doors every day. I know it is tough for consumer brands and B-to-B marketers to limit their offerings, especially under the auspices of global expansions and product extensions…but that just may be the track needed to reboot a complex product mix into a cleaner, simpler set of offers–that customers actually like. Another real benefit to this...
