The Acumen Fund

The Acumen Fund is a non-profit global venture fund which takes an entrepreneurial approach to doing good: investing in new companies in developing countries that use technology to make a difference in the lives the people at the bottom of the pyramid.

The founder, CEO, and remarkable woman behind the Acumen Fund, Jacqueline Novogratz, plans to invest $100 million and impact the lives of 50 million people by 2011. Already Acumen has some $32 million invested in Kenya, India, Pakistan and Tanzania. Some of Acumen’s investments include A to Z Textile Mills, a manufacturer of long-lasting insecticide-treated bed netting in Tanzania to combat malaria.
